Frequently Asked Questions
What should I expect during my first therapy session?
Your first session is a time for us to get to know each other. We'll explore what brought you to therapy, discuss your goals, and begin building a plan that feels right for you. It’s a no-pressure space to talk, reflect, and feel heard.
What ages and populations do you work with?
We serve adolescents, young adults, and adults — including students, professionals, parents, educators, and individuals in life transitions. We also specialize in maternal mental health, postpartum support, and group therapy.
Do you offer in-person or virtual sessions?
At this time, we offer secure virtual therapy sessions. This allows you to receive support from the comfort of your home or office with flexibility to fit your lifestyle.
How long are therapy sessions, and how often should I attend?
Most individual and couples sessions are 60 minutes. Frequency depends on your goals — many clients start with weekly sessions and adjust as they grow more confident.
Is what I share in therapy confidential?
Yes — confidentiality is a core part of the therapeutic relationship, and your privacy is taken very seriously. What you share in therapy is protected by both professional ethics and federal law. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) includes a Privacy Rule that establishes national standards to protect your medical records and personal health information — including mental health and psychotherapy details.
There are a few legally mandated exceptions to confidentiality: if there is suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elderly adult, or vulnerable person; if there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or others; or if records are subpoenaed by a court. Outside of those exceptions, everything discussed in therapy stays between you and your therapist. If you have any questions about how your information is protected, we’re always here to clarify and walk you through it.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel or reschedule your session, we kindly ask that you provide at least 24 hours’ notice. This helps us offer the appointment time to another client who may be waiting for support. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice — or missed sessions with no notice — will result in a late cancellation fee of $120.
We understand that life happens. In the case of emergencies, illness, or unexpected circumstances, please reach out as soon as possible. Exceptions may be made at the therapist’s discretion.
